Cindy Sherman, Madame de Pompadour (nee Poisson) Dinner Service with transfer images. American. 1990

Photographer-model-artist Cindy Sherman created this magnificent Limoges porcelain dinner service, which was manufactured by Royale de Sevres, in 1990. Sherman appears as Madame de Pompadour (circa 1756), who designed and commissioned the original set. Available in chartreuse green, canary yellow or shocking pink, Sherman’s complete tour-de-force includes a dinner service, a chocolate service and a magnificent serving dish and required as many as fifteen silkscreens to produce.
